The Great Depression
Artist: Blindside
Label: Rte / Drt
Year: August 2, 2005
They started out in 94, been touring with bands such as Hoobastank and P.O.D. Resently they released a DVD celebrating their 10 years anniversary, but enough about that. That was just for those hardcore Blindside-fans out there =)
If you liked Blindside before, you will certainly like them now. In mine opinion I felt that they had gone a bit too mainstream. At least with their song "Pitiful". Too much mainstream is a no go for my part, but this is the deal. It's a moody, post-hardcore album that is really satisfying listening to. If you've been listening to Blindside before, you'll find that they've got more mature. They've worked out their efforts correct, and it shows off. There is only one thing that I have a problem with: at "my alibi" they have a sound well known from dance/trance artists as Antiloop aso, and I don't like it. Basically, it's only on that song I don't appreciate what they are experimenting with. For me: it just doesn't fit. We who know about Blindside knows that Christian has a great voice, and he is well known for his screaming. But Christian sings much more on this album than, of what I can call to mind, he've done before on their previously/early albums. But it doesn't stop with that, cause when he sings, it's really good. I.e. "I remember" is one of those great tracks.
The song Yemkela reminds me of Distortion Deadline ;)
If you know of Distortion or are into HardCore, this could be it =)
Btw: Forget about The Hives!
